Legislator Jon Cooper presented the "King and Queen" (Larry Chorowski and Linda Schiess) of the UUFH Renaissance Faire with a county proclamation in honor of the 31st Anniversary of the event. The Renaissance Faire has been held annually on the grounds of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington since 1972 to raise funds for social justice work in our community. The gate fees and food donations collected go to local charitable organizations, such as Long Island Cares and the UUFH Emergency Housing Assistance Fund, while providing a day of family entertainment. Performers in medieval garb offer a glimpse of the entertainment of the era, such as puppet shows, magic acts, mimes, juggling and the famous knight tournaments.
