Legislator Jon Cooper spoke at a "Buy America" rally that was held at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport. The event was organized by Telephonics Corporation, one of Long Island’s largest electronics companies. In a speech to nearly 700 Telephonics employees, Legislator Cooper urged the New York City Transit Authority to award a $100 million MTA contract to Telephonics rather than their European-based competitor. Telephonics currently has about 1,100 employees, all in Huntington and Farmingdale, and the contract would create 170 new jobs.
