Legislator Jon Cooper held a press conference at the Long Island office of Mothers Against Drunk Driving to announce his proposed legislation that would ban the sale of AWOL (Alcohol Without Liquid) machines. He received support from (left to right) Nancy Lustig, Board President of the Suffolk Coalition to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Dependencies; Roberta Ekberg, a victims advocate whose son was killed by a drunk driver; Dr. Michael Delman, Director of the Chemical Dependency Department at Southside Hospital; Denna Cohen, President of MADD Long Island (whose son was also killed by a drunk driver); and Art Nigro, Executive Director of MADD Long Island.
